New belt, New life!

Oss!!

Karate Colorado is proud to announce two new yellow belts.
The test was held for Leo and Claudia on the 22nd of August.
They did Kihon ( basics ) and Kata in front of the examiners
and made it to step up to the next level.

We are practicing a little bit of French Cancan in our gi
to celebrate their achievement.
Good Job guys!

Great smile Alondra!
When you spar next time keep smiling  even when you punch your opponent.
Cadan, are you trying to hide behind a yellow belt girl?  You are a sempai now!!!

We still don't forget how to be serious because we are
REAL KARATE KIDS.
Please welcome our newest white belt student, Samantha.
This class was her 5th or 6th but she almost remembered
Heian Shodan to the end.  Way to go!!

Good smile Claudia and nice focus Jacob and Fernando.
I love how Tristan is looking straight.  It is really important in
Karate training.  Your heart and your technique cannot be separated.
Wherever you are going, your heart needs to go there with your technique.

I am updating this blog at my new apartment in Kentucky.
My new job is going to start next Tuesday... yes, I will be a white belt again.
Thank you all for the gifts, flowers, cards, and joining the party for me.
It was hard not to cry and feel sad for being away from the dojo.
But my soul belongs to the dojo and I am still there (and haunt you forever if you don't train!).

The first thing I did as I unpacked my suite case was
setting all the cards on the counter.
I can't read them without crying.  It is a proof that a black belt is
not so strong, don't you think?

Thank you for Senpai LoriSue for the beautiful cake.
I was not really sure about chopping up my own face but someone brave
did that for me and the cake was all gone!

This blog will still continues so we keep in touch!  OSS!!!

Summer Camp

Oss!

We hope you are having a great summer.

The next Saturday (August 03,2013) the dojo will be closed
for the Mountain States Greely Camp.
( Aug 01 Thursday - Aug 04 Sunday at The University of Northern Colorado, Greely )

There will be a tournament on Saturday starting around 12pm and
the grading test on Sunday early in the morning, around 9am.
It is a long drive but if you wish to come and watch, we will be there!

When you test for your SHODAN (First Degree Black Belt),
your choice will be either Greely Summer Camp or Lone Tree March tournament.
Joining the camp from the day one will be a great way to sharpen
your techniques before the testing.
There will be 3-4 classes a day and the teacher changes at each class.
Karate has no border.  It is good to be exposed to different styles.

Last week we practiced ENPI-UCHI technique.
This is called Mae-Enpi, (front elbow strike).
There is one simple rule on this technique,
keep your fist flat against your ear.
( Do not bend your wrist)

Thank you Senpai Purple belt for being such a great example!
Keep up good work!

We humbly ask the parents to stay silent during the class and during Dojo-Kun time.
It is a transition moment for all of us-----
your children are converting from kids to martial artists as they meditate.
As we cool off, we gradually come back to our normal life through meditation.
Please remain silent during the class and during the meditation time.

Thank you for all you do!
